Johnson (GPJ), the world’s leading event and experience marketing agency, announced that it has acquired a significant minority stake in its long-term partner, the full-service creative video agency NOMOBO. The two agencies have been collaborating for more than five years, creating high quality and award-winning streaming and content experiences for key clients including Salesforce, Dodge, Nissan, IBM, Workday and Rodan + Fields. 

With clients and consumers increasingly demanding elevated digital experiences in this virtual/hybrid world, the NOMOBO investment enables GPJ to expand its cinematic approach to these types of events by creating high quality productions that make each broadcast a major part of GPJ’s overall experience design, not just an “add-on”. Hybrid events with live broadcast elements - as well as events serving as content creators - will be a permanent part of the marketing landscape of the future, and GPJ and NOMOBO will be uniquely positioned to offer best in class live and digital experiences for attendees.

GPJ and NOMOBO have collaborated on projects including IBM Think 2021, the Dodge Demon Launch, the Dreamforce Salesforce CNX and the Rodan & Fields Virtual Convention. The next collaborative efforts will be the Dreamforce Salesforce conference, Salesforce PLUS, which will be live streamed September 21–23, 2021, and Workday Rising, which will stream live on September 28-29, 2021.

Our Story

Our journey began at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival in 2012. The moment we switched on the stream, 50,000 people around the world had already tuned in. That’s when we knew we were onto something magical- live access to the world’s greatest festivals for anyone, anywhere. We had effectively erased all borders and, with that, No More Boundaries (NOMOBO) was born. It wasn’t long before others took notice; what started out as a streaming service quickly grew into a live participation platform. We flew to Japan for Nissan, streamed Skrillex’ New Year’s Eve show at Madison Square Garden and covered annual conventions for companies like Rodan and Fields and Booking.com. The world was our playground, and we were having a blast. 

Until COVID struck and turned everything on its head. Pre-COVID, 80% of our revenue came from broadcasting large-scale in-person events online. When those got cancelled along with the rest of 2020, we needed a plan B.  The answer, turned out, was right in front of us. We already had the technology and know-how to create memorable shared experiences, we just needed to pivot the way we used it. Shifting to a fully remote workflow was the ultimate 2021 solution- connecting brands and people all over the planet without anyone leaving home. We used to send 30 people to a festival. Now we simply send a box with a single engineer.
