The rise of 4K

april 26, 2017

Ultra HD, UHD, 4K. Whatever you like to call it, it's on the rise. Being that NOMOBO is among the first companies in the world to offer 4K recording, you've come to the right place to learn about why this technology is so exciting.

The rise of 4K

Let's start with the technical basics. 4K actually means a resolution of 3.840 by 2.160 pixels, which is technically UHD, but in broadcast referred to as 4K. 4K refers to the nearly 4.000 pixels on the horizontal side – not quite accurate but we let that slide. 4K offer four times the resolution of Full HD. Obviously, the biggest benefit of 4K is the sharper image quality. 4K is also ideal for watching 3D content, with or without 3D glasses.

You might think that you need a huge screen to get the higher resolution offered by 4K but not at all! You don't need an immense screen to enjoy the 4K fun. Manufacturers have noticed high demand for small, higher quality televisions so you will find 4K technology in many smaller televisions.

To get the benefit of a 4K screen, you need to be watching 4K content. Not a lot of content is offered in 4K yet but that's changing fast. Netflix now produces all of their shows in 4K. NOMOBO chooses 4K for filming and broadcasting events, using cinema cameras to capture and switch music shows live in 4K. The image quality is so good that you feel like you are actually there.

If you don't have a 4K television yet, you may want to reconsider now that more and more content is available. Once you experience the difference you may never go back.
