Elevating Product Launches: Livestreaming Doechii and the new Samsung Edge Phone

1000ft

in the air

24

hours to make it all happen

In collaboration with the new launch of the Samsung Edge Phone, our team at NOMOBO was tasked with transforming the launch into a memorable production, bringing the event to life at an incredible 1000ft in the air in New York City. Within just 24 hours, we accomplished the entire production, the set-up, the rehearsal, the broadcasting of the show, and the dismantlement of the on-site setup. Our team showcased how high-level technical production can not only be effective, but also cinematically beautiful.

Creative Concept: Bringing Cinematic qualities to the field of High-profile Product Launches

By combining the power of the cine workflow to events such as these, our team brought the quality of cinema to the world of broadcasting. The launch of the Samsung Edge Phone was the first ever live broadcast to take place at the Hudson Yards in New York, and NOMOBO was part of creating that history. Alongside AEON Point and UEG, we helped produce a livestream that showcased multiple segments:

  • An exclusive hands-on look at the product: how the attendees interacted with it, how the product works
  • A pre-show segment
  • And of course, a special performance by DOECHII

…All of which was captured in a one-hour-long broadcast that went live to the world.

We used the top of the line full sensor cine style cameras, combined with beautiful Fujinon Duvo lensing, and the Sony Venice and Sony BURANO line; pairing these together with the CyanView live grading technology, meant we could elevate the quality of the images to the next level. Through this we achieved that true cinematic quality.

Elevating livestreaming production through our hybrid-approach

In addition, the height of the venue meant that the space was limited. Therefore, we needed a condensed workflow that fit the space whilst still capturing the highest quality for the audience. Because of NOMOBO’s specialised remote production system, our hybrid-approach provided a robust and adaptable solution to the event’s needs, whereby we could directly work with our team in Amsterdam to deliver the project to YouTube securely. This allows for high-profile events such as this to reach their global audience without a hitch.

Not only could we deliver cinematic results, but our hybrid-approach meant we could be more cost-effective, efficient, and more sustainable. What would generally be done with 1-2 assistant cameras per camera was condensed to a workflow with only 2 assistant cameras for the entire production. This reduced both the amount of personnel needed on-site, and the total carbon footprint of the production. No matter the circumstances - if we are 1000ft off the ground and have 24 hours to make it all happen - our team at NOMOBO is a testament to how a strategic content capture plan ensures creativity never has to be sacrificed.
